Gatehouse operates with 2FA
From the 1st of September 2025 onwards, all new Gatehouse customers will be set up with 2FA as a standard. This stands for Two Factor Authentication or two-step login. After Microsoft 365, Gatehouse is the next to make this strong security technique mandatory.
Since the end of 2023, Gatehouse customers have been able to decide for themselves whether they want to use 2FA.
Ongoing geopolitical tensions are leading to an increasing number of hybrid attacks via the internet on our European companies and governments. The consequences of a cyber attack are severe for those affected. (Quote from De Tijd on 25/08/25 "TVH, which has over 5,000 employees, has recently experienced difficult years. In 2023, the company fell victim to a cyber attack, which prevented it from operating for almost four weeks. According to D'Ieteren's annual report, TVH lost €85 million in turnover and an estimated €30 million in profits that year as a result of the attack.")
Even with strong passwords and a rotating password policy, companies still run significant risks. That is why M(ulti)FA and, in particular, 2FA are being implemented at an ever-increasing rate. 2FA stands for an additional independent step when logging in. This can take the form of a check via an SMS code, email verification, an ID card, a fingerprint or even a biometric camera. Gatehouse works with an SMS or email code.
With this extra check, hackers can no longer simply take over your account, even if they already know your password. In addition, always use different passwords for each account and set up a rotating password policy. This will limit the damage if, despite all your precautions, they still manage to get onto your network.
